As promised my detailed feedback on the tour.
Iberia and Latam flights
All perfectly on time and seats reserved by Latin America Tours were very good.
Lima
Iberostar Selection Miraflores: very good hotel, modern large rooms, excellent breakfast buffet.
Lima tour: Generally all guides during the entire tour were good, drivers very careful and cars clean and comfortable and always on time. 4 hours for the Lima city tour seems somewhat tight, especially if done on a weekday with heavier traffic than our Sunday tour.
Paracas
Guide helpful to select food for lunch. Nice hotel on the seaside allowing a walk on the beach, nice breakfast buffet.
Islas Ballestas – Nasca
For the tour to the Ballestas Islands we had to take a boat for over 40 people instead of the 12 people we had booked and paid for. Nevertheless trip was very nice and interesting.
Good lunch on the way to Nasca including a Pisco tour. Before arriving at Nasca we stopped at a view point overlooking some of the Nasca lines near the Panamericana road.
DM Nasca Hotel: simple hotel and breakfast buffet.
Nasca lines – Arequipa
Very interesting flight over the Nasca lines followed by a 13 hours trip to Arequipa. Excellent drivers but very loooooong trip…
Casa Andina Select: would call it a 3-star hotel rather than 4-star. Small rooms which have seen better times but excellent location on the main square of Arequipa. Breakfast buffet: there was always something missing and we had to ask staff to provide for fruits, scrambled eggs etc.
Very good guide for the Arequipa city tour. Very good lunch at Zig Zag.
Arequipa – Colca, Colca Valley
Nice and interesting trip with lots of animals, excellent tour guide.
Colca Lodge: very nice hotel with own hot springs, a dream.
Nice Colca Valley program, we could see the famous Condors.
Colca – Puno
Nothing special to report on the trip which turned out to be rather eventless.
Casa Andina Premium Puno: very nice hotel on the lake.
Titicaca Lake
Very interesting tour with a 1 1/2 hours walk on Taquiles Island, nice lunch.
Puno – Cusco
Took the Andean Express – an unforgettable experience. Very good program and service on board. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a suite which made the trip even more memorable.
Novotel Cusco: very nice hotel, good breafast buffet, very good location. Interesting city tour.
Cusco – Rainbow Mountain – Valle Sagrado
Since I got the flu we decided, after discussing with the guide, to change the Rainbow Mountain tour from Vinicunca to Pacayo, a somewhat longer way but easier to walk. Think important to point out for Latin America Tours to their customers what it means to walk on 5000 m height. Made it to the main viewpoint with an incredible view on the Rainbow Mountains, the Red Valley and the Andes.
Posada del Inca in Yucay: excellent hotel, nice park, nice restaurants and breakfast buffet.
Visit of Ollantaytambo and Moray, visit of Chinchero and Maras
Both visits were very interesting. They could easily be combined in a one day trip.
Machu Picchu
Well organized and a unique experience. The only place which was somewhat overcrowded but visits are well organized within Machu Picchu, limiting access on an hourly basis.
We are very happy with the organization by Latin America Tours and felt well taken care of by their local agent during the whole trip.
